I have to give credit to finding this next line to my algorithm. A tank dress from Sold Out NYC popped up as Vogue’s must-have summer dress. It really was such a great cut, and as I clicked through to find out more information, it was also at a great price. I really felt like this was the t-shirt line I had been trying to find for so many years.

It is that time of year again: the time where we become a bit of a used car sales lot. We get out our red pens and we start slashing prices, at a rapid pace. Over the years I have learned it is better to let folks know when the upcoming mark-downs will be, so they can decide if there is something they have been eyeing but wanted to wait for sale they can plan accordingly.

It is hard to believe I am saying this, but we are starting to unpack our first pre-fall delivery, and it is a great one, from Ulla Johnson. Of all the brands we carry, I think they do the best job at making sure most of what they offer for this delivery are pieces you can buy now and wear now, but also transition perfectly into the early fall months when, let’s face it, it is too hot to wear anything that is fully from fall collections.

If you haven’t heard of MaisonMarché, it is a different retail concept that combines online shopping with pop-up shops at people’s homes or other intimate locations. One of our former high school workers who I’ve remained close to is Maddie, and on June 17th, she and her mom are hosting an event at their home in Alexandria from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The founder, Sarah Easley, will even be there to help you shop!

It is June and it is time for pre-fall to start arriving. Some of it has already hit our sales floor. As a buyer, this is the most difficult delivery for me to select. I make sure to have buy-now-wear-now pieces that transition to when it is so hot in September and October and you need something that doesn’t scream summer. I am so excited for all these deliveries and I thought I would share my top 10 picks.

It is hard to believe that it is time for our spring sale, but it is June and a few weeks past Memorial Day, so it seems like the time is right. We want to make sure everyone has a chance to shop before they head off for vacation.

I was trying to recall when we carried the brand, The Great. I think it is back when we were at 127 South Fairfax and we just had a few racks of clothes rolled onto the sales floor. It had almost been a decade since then, which is hard to believe. We are so excited to have The Great back at The Hive, we hope you are too.

I have decided 2026 is the year I am going to change up the shoe selection at The Shoe Hive. We have been doing this for almost 24 years now and I decided this fall we are bringing in 4 new brands to the store. When our Krewe rep, Katie, was in a few weeks ago for us to look at their spring collection, she had the cutest little case for her sunglasses. Once again, we have another new Tibi delivery arriving in-store. This time it’s the summer delivery, and it is always a favorite of mine. They do a great short every summer, too, and this year is no exception.

It is time for our second shoe event of spring, and it is everyone's favorite shoe line: FREDA SALVADOR. The reason FREDA is the “it” shoe brand right now, in my opinion, is that the designs somehow manage to be classic but fashion forward at the same time. The other important thing is that they are so comfortable.

I’m not usually one to focus on trends, but every so often something shows up again and again in the collections I see. This spring, it’s all about light, airy textures that feel easy and wearable, from sweaters to shoes. It’s a look that adds interest without trying too hard, and one that fits seamlessly into a real wardrobe.

Oddly, one of the brands we’re most often asked to bring back is also one of the most inexpensive lines we’ve ever carried: TKEES. Until now, nothing we’ve carried from their line has been more than $100. Ironically, the shoe that made me realize we needed to bring them back—the Julia—is more than that at $160, but it’s worth the price.
