I was trying to recall when we carried the brand, The Great. I think it is back when we were at 127 South Fairfax and we just had a few racks of clothes rolled onto the sales floor. It had almost been a decade since then, which is hard to believe. We are so excited to have The Great back at The Hive, we hope you are too.

I have decided 2026 is the year I am going to change up the shoe selection at The Shoe Hive. We have been doing this for almost 24 years now and I decided this fall we are bringing in 4 new brands to the store. Look for more information on those newcomers later, but for now, we are kicking it off with our first new brand, Favorite Daughter.

When our Krewe rep, Katie, was in a few weeks ago for us to look at their spring collection, she had the cutest little case for her sunglasses. When we all asked her about it, we found out she actually owns the brand, Glass House. They are the cutest leather holders for your sunglasses that you can clip on your bag or toss in your bag.

Once again, we have another new Tibi delivery arriving in-store. This time it’s the summer delivery, and it is always a favorite of mine. They do a great short every summer, too, and this year is no exception.

We think a great new bag is the perfect gift—it always fits. So, we decided to help with Mother’s Day shopping by having a little bag sale. Starting Thursday, May 7, through Sunday, May 10, we are marking all bags down 30 percent. We have all shapes and sizes, so there is something for everyone.

If you haven’t heard, we are hosting a Lizzie Fortunato and Ann Mashburn trunk show starting Thursday, April 30, through Sunday, May 3. On May 1, the Fortunato sisters will be in the store from 10 am to 2:30 pm. Have you ever seen the Lizzie Fortunato Instagram posts or emails and thought, "I wish I could layer necklaces like they do"? Maybe you have hoped that one day they could actually help you with your "neckmess." Well, Friday, May 1 is your chance to do just that, with the one and only Lizzie Fortunato herself. 

It is time for our second shoe event of spring, and it is everyone's favorite shoe line: FREDA SALVADOR. The reason FREDA is the “it” shoe brand right now, in my opinion, is that the designs somehow manage to be classic but fashion forward at the same time. The other important thing is that they are so comfortable.

I’m not usually one to focus on trends, but every so often something shows up again and again in the collections I see. This spring, it’s all about light, airy textures that feel easy and wearable, from sweaters to shoes. It’s a look that adds interest without trying too hard, and one that fits seamlessly into a real wardrobe.

Oddly, one of the brands we’re most often asked to bring back is also one of the most inexpensive lines we’ve ever carried: TKEES. Until now, nothing we’ve carried from their line has been more than $100. Ironically, the shoe that made me realize we needed to bring them back—the Julia—is more than that at $160, but it’s worth the price.

I was going to a show called Designers & Agents that features smaller brands. It just so happened Nicholson & Nicholson was showing there, so I figured it was meant to be. It was a small collection, which made me happy, and it doesn’t have a huge footprint in the U.S., which also made me happy. We love discovering great things our clients may never have seen.

This week, we are hosting our second-ever Tanya Taylor event. We introduced the line to the store last fall, and the response has been amazing—our customers love Tanya Taylor. Stop in starting Thursday, April 9th through Sunday, April 12th to check out Tanya Taylor and all of our spring arrivals.

It’s difficult for me to pick favorites; honestly, there isn’t much from Tibi that I don’t love or own. I have been making an effort to order less Tibi for myself because my closet is a little out of control. I have failed this spring at doing so—I always joke that I am not a very good quitter—so I thought I would highlight some of my favorites.

Last fall, we introduced Tanya Taylor to The Hive and kicked off our partnership with a trunk show. It was a huge success. When I asked our sales representative if we could also host a spring show, not only did she agree, but she helped me out by reserving a great selection to send us before it sold out.

We edited our shoe selection down to our favorites and hope our customers agree. Two shoe lines that have surprised us with their popularity are Rachel Comey and Ann Mashburn. Rachel Comey knows how to do a cog, and this spring we picked two of their newer styles along with a great pump that literally goes with everything.

It is time for our first shoe event of the year, which is fitting because AGL is the first event we ever hosted at the store. I have mentioned before that AGL is the only brand we have in store that was on our shelves when we opened in 2003. I have a special attachment to this company and from March 26th-29th, it’s all 20% off.
