My Favorite Shoe For Fall

Every season, there is a shoe that I am completely and utterly obsessed with. I dream about this shoe, I buy clothes to wear with this shoe, and I stalk my representative to find out when new I will receive this shoe.

This summer, I was on AGL’s Instagram account, and there was an image that stopped me in my tracks; it was the Virna Two-Toned Stretch Boot. I stared for a moment, then called Brianne, our AGL rep, and said incredulously: “how did I miss this? Not sure if it wasn’t around for our virtual appointment, or I just missed it!” I begged and pleaded to have some made for The Shoe Hive. It was everything I love in a shoe. It was brown and black, which is all I tend to wear in the winter, it had a little heel which is all I need these days - but I don’t always want a flat. It was pointy, which I always find to be more flattering, and was the perfect height. It was somewhere in between a boot and a bootie. It was shoe perfection.

I have called Brianne at least once a week since the factories in the coastal LaMarche region of Italy re-opened this fall, asking when we might receive the boot that would make my fall wardrobe complete. Well, we just unpacked them last week, just as the temperature dropped.

I can’t wait for you to see them, and I can’t wait to get them on my own feet!

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
