It’s that time of year again! If you are a fountain pen lover like me, National Fountain Pen Day (NFPD) on Friday, November 4 is a fun reminder of our hobby. It’s a day to embrace fountain pens, ink, and generally all things handwriting – as if we pen lovers need an excuse!

A little background on me. I have loved paper and pens since kindergarten. My first fountain pen was a Pilot Varsity disposable pen in the 1990s. Since I began working at Penny Post nearly 5 years ago, I have amassed a collection of 45+ pens and a ridiculous amount of ink. I make every effort to rotate pens and inks to utilize everything evenly, but I have my favorites and they tend to get my attention more than others. My current faves are my new Kaweco AL Sport Iguana Blue Fountain pen, with a special ordered calligraphy nib 1.1m, and my LAMY AL Star Cosmic, also with a 1.1 nib. Both pens are filled with Diamine Writer’s Blood ink.

This year to celebrate NFPD, we are thrilled to have the one and only Nib Tailor, JC Ament, grinding nibs and working his magic on customers’ fountain pens from 11am - 3pm.

In addition to nib grinding, we will be raffling off a 2022 Diamine Inkvent Calendar to one lucky customer. Anyone visiting the shop that day can be entered into the raffle. Extra entries will be made for customers using the Nib Tailor’s services or for those who purchase any fountain pen-related items and accessories.
