New Year, NEAT You

As much as I love the holidays, I get very excited to organize and pack up my decorations! It feels great to edit, clean up, and get a little extra space back in my house. I also like to give myself the week to organize everything, so join me in the fun!

First things first, you'll need to get the right supplies and designate the best storage areas in your home - we keep our outdoor decor in the garage and our indoor items in a finished closet in the basement. As for products, I always recommend clear containers with matching lids. Extra supplies include bubble wrap, cord storage reels, cardboard, tree bags, and ornament inserts.

The Tree:

  • If you have an artificial tree, utilize a storage bag with sturdy handles.

  • You can utilize cord storage reels or even a piece of cardboard to wrap your lights - it will protect them and make decorating next year a breeze.

  • Divided bins are a great go-to for ornament storage, but bubble wrap works great to keep precious and breakable ornaments safe as you're moving bins in and out of your storage area.

Outdoor:

  • Dedicate the space for all your outdoor decor - whether it's one shelf, an entire system, or a shed - these items are designed to withstand weather, so you're fine to keep them stored in a non-temperature controlled environment.

  • Lights and small items should go in a labeled bin.

  • Larger items can go on a shelf.

Gift Wrap:

  • Keep wrapping paper wrinkle-free by laying your rolls flat or standing them up in a dedicated storage container.

  • Categorize bags, bows, and labels and store them in a place that you'll be able to easily access next year.

Thanks for joining me on the January Holiday Clean Up!
