Our Biggest Event Of The Year Is Here

It is hard to believe that our first Veronica Beard trunk show was five years ago, and it was all thanks in part to our amazing rep at the time, Liz. She really moved mountains to make it happen, and she believed in our little store. At the time, events were limited to certain accounts, which is still true. We are lucky, especially at a time when production and shipping items back and forth have their challenges, to host a trunk show in our store.

It is ironic that now Liz has moved on to become Sales Director at Ann Mashburn, and we are having an event with this female-owned-and-operated line, and next week we will be hosting our 6th Veronica Beard Trunk Show. The success of our store is due in large part to the success of this brand. Veronica Beard has continued to work with us to put on events and keep bringing us amazing clothes that we all want to wear.

If you don’t know, there are two Veronicas in Veronica Beard. Veronica Miele Beard and Veronica Swanson Beard are the co-founders and co-CEOs and are sisters-in-law who are married to brothers. After leaving careers in finance and fashion to raise families, they struggled with finding their perfect uniform. They wanted clothes that were elevated, sexy, and chic. Clearly, they hit a chord, and more than ten years later, they are still a force in the fashion industry. You might have noticed they are expanding and opening storefronts, and we are lucky enough to have one in our area in Georgetown.

They truly design clothes for the busy woman’s lifestyle. They have everything from gowns to bathing suits and pantsuits to denim. Of course, they will always be known for their blazers. Nobody makes a blazer like Veronica Beard. The added advantage of being able to add a dickey to most of their blazers makes it hard to compete with their quality and versatility.

We are proud to start hosting their new rep in our store along with a special selection of spring items from Thursday, April 7 to Sunday, April 10. We decided to pick some of our favorites from the spring collection. Look for more styled posts and a look book next week in Alexandria Stylebook. You won’t want to miss this event.

I spent the first part of my career as a copy-writer who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
