Our Plans for 2022

I'm not a New Year's Resolution kind of girl, but I am definitely a planner. I get excited by the planning process when a new year beckons with its full four quarters ready to be filled with new projects and activities. Interested in seeing what we have up our sleeve for this year?

In 2022, we're introducing a new series of After Hours events in collaboration with a good friend of ours, James D'Arcy, who - aside from being a wealth of knowledge and an incredibly nice guy - is a brand ambassador for the finest names in luxury spirits. Our first event will take place on Thursday, January 27, and we will focus on our companies' shared values of craft, care in production, and heirloom quality design. This is a great opportunity to ask us questions about our work and to get to know our ethos before committing to a design consultation. And yes - drinks will be served!

Our After Hours events will be free to attend, but pre-registration is required as space is limited. Please email us for details, and a reservation link will be provided.

This year, we're also unveiling two new design concepts to our repertoire: The One Collection and The Claire Collection. The One Collection will feature a classic but unique design intended for solitaire gemstones that can be layered, mixed, and matched (this is your solution for that diamond you inherited but don't know what to do with.) The Claire Collection will have a scattered concept to it, and it will provide the perfect foundation for mixing different-sized gemstones in a beautiful, abstract way. The name is short for Claire de Lune because the scattered layout reminds me of the light of the moon on a clear night. We designed both of these concepts with heirloom redesign in mind, so you'll have plenty of food for thought for those random bejeweled pieces shoved in the back of your jewelry box. Stay tuned for their respective reveals in the coming months.

And, finally, we're planning to supercharge our fundraising efforts this year. In 2021 we raised $4,500 for refugee resettlement efforts, and we're aiming to double that amount across 2022. Look for details in the coming month on our first fundraiser of the year, our month-long February Love event, which will once again benefit one of our favorite charities, the One Love Foundation.

All this, in addition to what I'm sure will be another amazing lineup of creative custom and bespoke projects, fascinating restoration work, and just generally loving our work with our amazing community. Here's to a great 2022!

(Now, I realize as I write this that we are in the middle of what perhaps will be a peak of a rather complicated COVID surge that seems to have left no stone unturned (and no person unaffected.) Who knows what we'll be saying in a week! Nonetheless, planning for the best of times while preparing for the worst of times is always a good idea, right?)

Creative Director & Co-Owner | Alexandria and Company

I came to join Alexandria & Company by way of love: my husband Tim has owned the shop for nearly ten years, and I started by helping him on Saturdays so that we could spend more time together. Eventually, I quit my other life in the legal field to become Alx&Co’s Creative Director and co-owner with Tim. Now, we run our small business together in Old Town and I haven't looked back.

Alexandria & Company is an Old Town-based workshop and design studio specializing in creating and restoring fine jewelry and silver hollowware. They are the in-the-know jewelers of Alexandria and have been serving clients out of their small workshop for decades. Tucked in their historic building on South Royal Street, the team at Alx&Co. brings a personalized, modern approach to their craft – this is not your average stodgy jeweler or antique shop. Visit them online to view their collection of handmade fine jewelry; or, if you’re feeling creative, make an appointment to talk about that custom design project you’ve been imagining.
