Small Business Feature: OWLS Therapy

Last month we did a shoutout to Alexandria to see what small businesses should be featured in Alexandria Stylebook. Here is our first feature…

OWLS Therapy is a pediatric speech therapy practice offering in-home and teletherapy sessions. Specializing in dyslexia, articulation, fluency, feeding, and language development, OWLS prides themselves on offering comprehensive evaluations and evidence-based treatment that incorporate clinical expertise, best current evidence, and client values. They’re dedicated to helping a child's speech and communication skills develop and grow, as both are essential to academic and social success. My husband and I personally entrusted my son with the experts at OWLS and can speak directly to their mission and commitment. By first grade, William was diagnosed with a number of learning challenges, one of which was a speech and language disorder. While yes, he was late to read, he really struggled to translate his thoughts onto paper. At the time, I found understanding his unique challenges a “challenge” in and of themself. As many of you know, we do what we can to give our children the tools they need to thrive.Fortunately, OWLS offered a way forward for his speech therapy journey. Founder Janene Besch and speech-language pathologist Nikki Seaman have worked with William for the past three years and completely transformed his life for the better. They have ignited his expansive curiosity so much that now William wants to be a writer when he grows up! Love you, ladies!

“Over the past 18 months, I have worked with William on text analysis and interpretation of written prompts across various subjects, as well as executive functioning skills. William provided insight into his interpretation of given information but needed a way to organize it and formulate responses to questions in a variety of academic settings. With intervention, he has increased his understanding and use of language to convey his ideas and continues to cultivate confidence in tackling less familiar and more complex tasks. William has made tremendous progress towards his goals, and I am beyond grateful to be a part of his journey of academic and social growth. Even in the midst of the pandemic, while facing challenges of a strictly virtual environment, he continues to strive towards his goals with a determined attitude to succeed.”Whether your child struggles with academic skills, such as reading and spelling, or language skills, like engaging in conversation and expressing ideas and opinions, OWLS offers the expertise, services, and TLC to enable your child to meet their full potential.
