AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!  August 3rd is Stationery Store Day!!

August 3rd is Stationery Store Day!! Mark your calendars now and make your plans to be at Penny Post first thing in the morning. Last year, we had a line of about 40 people strong as soon as we opened the door. When I say our paper people are serious about paper, I’m not kidding. Stationery Store Day is one of our favorite days of the year and we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Last year taught us many lessons that we’re putting into place this year. The first is that we must control how many people we have in the store, at one time. We were swimming in people inside the store last year and we won’t do that this year. To make sure there is a comfortable shopping experience, that the line moves quickly and fairly, and to ensure that the first 100 customers get their swag bags, we will allow up to 20 people in the store at a time. We want to make shopping on Stationery Store Day a celebration of paper and the people who love it, so it’s important to make the in-store experience as pleasant as possible.

As for the outside experience, we are moving our refreshment stand to the curb and will be providing free iced coffee, iced tea, and cold water for everyone as well as a little something to nosh on. We know it will be a hot day, so complimentary Penny Post fans of the paper variety (naturally!) will be provided as well. Our team will be moving as quickly as we can inside to make sure you get to cool comfort as soon as possible. Bring your own shade if you have it, just in case.

Everyone’s favorite treat will be back again this year – Swag Bags!  Once again, we will have goodies worth over $50 for the first 100 customers that spend $50 or more. These are for in-store customers only. I think last year we ran out by noonish so be sure to be there early!

If that wasn’t enough, this year we will have another new product release just in time for stationery store day. Our new “Pen” cap (get it?!) will be available for sale in-store and online for 20% off!

It’s always a good day so I hope you will join us as we celebrate all things stationery!!

Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, Penny Post is an independent boutique specializing in custom stationery and wedding invitations. Inspired by the art of personal correspondence, the power of handwritten notes, and the smell of freshly printed stationery, we surround ourselves with quirky, hilarious, and classically beautiful things to make life a little brighter.
