What is Plaid Friday?

Plaid Friday is Alexandria’s alternative to Black Friday. Avoid the frenzy of the big box stores and the malls and shop amazing discounts and beautifully curated shops in the DMV’s best destination for shopping local — Alexandria, Virginia!

The name Plaid Friday comes from the idea of weaving the individual threads of small businesses together to create a unique fabric that highlights the diversity and creativity of independent shops. The event was created in Oakland, California to transform the holiday season from a frenzied shopping experience to one that allows you to connect with friends, family and your community by supporting local business.
