Pre-fall (aka Summer) Look Book

Retail and fashion are funny. I have talked about it before, the fact that in the middle of summer we start getting wool coats and bulky sweaters but try to find a bathing suit in July and you are out of luck. Then you couple that with all the headlines like “Retail experiences Biggest Monthly Drop on Record” or “Retail has been on life support-coronavirus could pull the plug,” and see all the big retailers filing for bankruptcy, you scratch your head and think maybe things need to change.Don’t get me wrong - I love owning stores, but these articles make my anxiety even worse. I have spent countless hours watching webinars about how to keep a small business during this time or speculating on what will happen in retail once the country re-opens. So much of this is out of our hands, but we can control our decisions and how we handle it.I decided this might change the way our industry works, and in many ways for the better. Vendors won’t over produce so there won’t be as much waste. We all know how much damage, fast-fashion companies, especially, cause to the environment. I also think it will dramatically change the delivery cycle. You might actually be able to buy a sun dress when you are actually wearing sun dresses! Isn’t that a novel idea?Things have shifted, been canceled, and moved around but we do have some great new things coming in for pre-fall, which now we should just call summer. You know, because it is summer!Great Xirena dresses, fun colorful tops from Birds of Paradise, and wedges from Vince are just a few of my favorites. Okay there is one sweater and jacket from Ulla that you can’t wear for bit, but wow are they gorgeous!
