Pure Gold For Your Hair
Let me tell you 'bout somethin'. It's called Gold Lust by Oribe, and it's carried by Bellacara in Old Town. I'd heard it repairs and restores damaged hair, so I decided to give it a try. Summer, with pools, humidity, and grabbing whatever's in the shower at a hotel or a friend's beach house, has been rough on my hair. I got some samples of Gold Lust from Bellacara and booked an appointment with Tricia at Salon deZen to see if she could use the shampoo, conditioner, and oil on my hair before styling it for my upcoming thirty-year high school class reunion.
The first thing I noticed while getting my hair washed was the incredibly brilliant fragrance. Oribe clearly knows what they're doing. The Gold Lust shampoo and conditioner have crisp, citrusy top notes, but the fragrance isn't just everyday citrus; it's complex. The middle and base notes are more earthy and mysterious, like a stage for the playful citrusy notes to dance on. I breathed it in again and again during my wash, and I could feel my mood brighten and my mind become clear and excited. I imagined starting every morning in the shower with the scent of Gold Lust shampoo and conditioner infusing my entire bathroom and bedroom. Gimme some of that!
The second thing I noticed was how easily Hilda, the woman who gave me a wash, was able to comb through my hair with Gold Lust conditioner in it. Normally, even with conditioner in my hair, combing it is a serious battle. I have extremely thick, curly, fizzy, coarse, long hair. With Gold Lust conditioner, the comb literally slid through my tresses. I reached my hand up to feel it and my curls felt slippery and soft, just like silk. Normally they feel more like burlap. LOL!
The third thing I noticed was the sheen - literally pure gold. Before blowing out my hair, Tricia massaged in the Gold Lust oil. When she was done styling my hair, she put some of the oil on her hands and ran them softly over my hair. Seriously, I didn't know that kind of shine was possible. I'm sold on the gold!
I learned something important in this process. A good hair product is an experience. The name of the product, the scent, the feel, the look all compile to create a wholistic experience of something extravagant, in this case - Gold and Lust. How would I describe this product: an unexpected flirtatious encounter, light playing across skin, candles and smooth jazz, creme brulee. Gold Lust is 14 karat liquid. I don't know what else to say. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
