A “C” Is No Longer Considered Average…
I’m talking about a C-shape haircut here. The C-shape cut is A+ worthy as it is the secret to achieving healthier and fuller-looking hair. I think we can all nod, “Yes, please!”
The C-shape cut combines 90s hair nostalgia with the very popular shag cut and requires less maintenance than other layered chops. With its 90s edge, the C-cut has even been referred to as the “Sachel” to signify the marriage between the “Rachel” cut from Friends and the long, loved, lived-in shag. The face-framing layers of the C-cut usually begin at chin length and curve inward reflecting the shape of the letter “C.”
I love this cut so much because it is universally flattering, and it adds such a soft edge to your locks. This cut craves a round brush blowout but looks equally amazing when the hair is worn up allowing the wispy layers to beautifully adorn the face. This cut is especially great for individuals with thick hair because it removes bulk and weight. However, it looks equally fabulous on those darlings with fine hair because the cut will add texture and volume while the strategic layers will also make the hair look longer. Win-win-win!
The C-cut isn’t just for straight or wavy hair, it applauds curly textured hair too! With curly tresses, the C-cut keeps the volume towards the sides of the face and not at the crown of the head. It makes such a beautiful silhouette with the bends of beautiful curls. I adore how the C-shape cut effortlessly makes curls seem even more voluminous and extremely defined. After all, who doesn’t love healthy, bouncy-looking curls?
What sets this cut apart from the other hair trends is that the C-shaped haircut focuses primarily on face framing. So, if you are looking for softness around your face and lots of volume without the effort, then this is your cut. To style, I’d recommend a volumizing product pre-blowout such as Kevin Murphy’s EVER.LIFT. A killer round brush will also be your best friend when it comes to nailing your C-cut, this one is my all-time favorite. Start by blow-drying your hair upside down to ensure maximum volume. When your hair is close to dry, start using the round brush, and be sure to blow-dry and turn all sections of your hair toward your face. To finish, use a soft-hold hairspray to set the style in place such as Kevin Murphy’s Session Spray Flex. Voilà!
