How To Style An Oversized Blazer
I am a huge fan of oversized blazers. Why? There are so many reasons! In terms of styling, they can balance out just about any outfit. They can toughen up something that’s too girly, elevate something that’s too sloppy, or refine something that’s too laid back. There is also lots of opportunity to play with shape – belting, layering, buttoning, weirdly buttoning, and the sleeves, oh the sleeves!
This modern take on a blazer has been trending for a while and some folks are starting to ask me if oversized blazers are worth buying because they must be going out of style soon, right? My answer: who cares and yes, they are worth every penny! Oversized blazers will forever be a staple in my wardrobe, and I am here to tell you why. I am also here to show you how to style them! The easiest way for my exhausted mom brain to do that is to show you photos of myself out in the wild wearing an oversized blazer! I hope that you can, at the least, feel inspired to slip one on and give it a try!
The oversized blazer is functional:
Use it as a spring jacket.
Swap a shawl with an oversized blazer for a nice event.
Roomy enough to accommodate layering.
Pair with shorts, denim, trousers, a dress, a jumpsuit, or sweatpants.
The oversized blazer is comfortable:
No more feeling stuffed into a blazer.
No more stuffy corporate vibes.
Be comfy but look chic.
Have that effortless, put-together look we all want.
The oversized blazer is flattering:
There is a spectrum of oversized blazers, meaning some are obnoxiously oversized while others are slimmer. Keep in mind your height/frame and select a blazer that works for your body type.
Slims a bigger midsection.
Lengthens a fuller chest.
Adds interest up top for those who need it.
