Scout Is Out!

Oh, what a night! We had an incredible evening celebrating the launch of The Scout Guide Alexandria Volume 7 at Cedar Knoll. Even though the weather gave us a little trouble during setup (this is a tradition), the Bridgerton-themed party went off without a hitch thanks to our planners (and members), Tablesaveur and Honey and Lavender Events. I love this party almost as much as I love creating the guide because it is a collaboration of our vendors, a place to showcase their work for all to see, and we bring everyone together to celebrate it. It’s incredible, and the energy at the party reflects it!

Cedar Knoll was so gracious to host us, and we were thrilled that over 150 of our guests were able to experience their stunning views, delicious cuisine, and cocktails, and were even some of the first to get a sneak peek of their new renovations. Helen Olivia outdid herself with the flowers this year, with the vintage car install and all the beautiful arrangements she placed throughout the space. Just wow!

Our entertainment really drove the Bridgerton theme home with Celeste Vee on the electric violin and Candi from Candescent Talent on stilts. We always love having an element of surprise for our guests, and I think this duo really gave a wow factor.

The reason we make such a big deal out of this party is to celebrate all the people that are part of the guide. It’s the first time our members see their spreads in print and the reveal of the cover color. This year’s light blue reflects our new partnership with The Animal Welfare League Alexandria. We are so excited to partner with them to help save and rescue as many animals as possible. An adoptable pup even showed up to the party - Rocky was certainly the cutest guest in attendance. We hope you will help us in our efforts to volunteer, raise money, and awareness for this special organization!

Now that the dust has settled from the party, we are hard at work spreading these beautiful guides all around Alexandria in hopes you will pick one up (yes, they’re free!!) and help support your local small businesses whenever you can. You can find them at your favorite local scouted shops (listed below), so pop in this week and tell them Scout sent you! Be sure to follow us on Instagram at @tsgalexandria for daily tips, inspiration, and insider scoop from our business owners: The Shoe Hive, The Hive, Yellow Jacket, Mint Condition, Mint Collective, 529 Kids Consign, Monday’s Child Classics, King’s Jewelry, Patina, Boxwood, and more!

Thank you to our vendors who helped make this party so spectacular!

Owner and Editor | The Scout Guide Alexandria

I'm a Virginia girl, born (Alexandria) and raised (Warrenton). I studied fashion and marketing at Radford University and after 10 years in the corporate world (not doing anything fashion related), I decided to go on my own and pursue my dream as a blogger and consultant. I started my personal blog, Fifty-Two Thursdays, in 2013 as a way to share local finds, skincare secrets, and outfit inspiration with my friends. What started as a hobby turned into a full-blown business after a few years of blood, sweat, and tears (mildly kidding). I returned to Alexandria just two years ago (coming from Arlington) and took on the position as Editor/Owner of TSG Alexandria. I live and breathe local here in Alexandria and absolutely love sharing my knowledge of blogging, photo styling, and social media with the community!

Owned and edited by Sarah Phillips, the Alexandria guide highlights premier independent businesses in Alexandria, Virginia, and surrounding areas. Learn more about the businesses featured in The Scout Guide Alexandria guide and enjoy an insider’s view of the area by visiting the TSG Alexandria website. Complimentary copies of the guide are available at participating businesses.
