Special Occasion Pop-Up Shop

My hands are half-frozen as I type this. With Mr. Winter in full swing, February can feel so bleak. We’re trying to fight our winter blues with the daily spring deliveries of pinks, greens, yellows, lilacs, and beautiful white dresses for Holy First Communion.February is the start of the Communion season and it makes me so excited because it’s one of my favorite experiences we offer. When I took over Monday’s Child, I had a clear vision of the kids’ brands and clothes that I wanted to bring to Alexandria, and I couldn’t wait to do it. What I wasn’t so sure about… the racks of white tulle/sequin/lace in our back room for Communion that I inherited. It’s been a good 30+ years since I received the sacrament at St. Mary’s and I wasn’t entirely sure what customers would want. There is So. Much. Tulle. But, after two years of talking to customers, bringing in new lines, hosting trunk shows, and getting help from great reps of beautifully made dresses, we’re excited for our best season yet.Especially with the opening of our new Special Occasion Pop-Up Shop, just for Communion!  Located right next to Monday’s Child, we are a one-stop-shop for everything needed for First Communion. I’ve been so surprised that across the DMV, there are very few places that sell Communion dresses – it’s even hard to find dresses online because you don’t know what you are getting until you see and feel them in person – trust me. Picking out a dress is often a very special occasion and a family affair and with our new space, we can make sure that girls, their moms and dads, and their grandmothers/aunts/siblings have a safe place to enjoy this memorable experience. Our expanded shop will have everything needed for the day: dresses, veils, gloves, shoes – blazers and ties for the boys. We’re also partnering with the incredibly talented Renée C. Gage Photography for studio and location sessions of Classic and Heirloom photographs to capture the day.   I’m always in awe seeing girls pick out the dress. They can usually identify it instantly and after trying on ten dresses, more times than not, they go with their first pick. We feel so lucky to be a small part of the special day. We’ll be offering trunk shows throughout February to bring as many options to families as possible. We offer a wide range of price points and can help with custom orders. Making an appointment is strongly recommended so we allow for safe social distancing and give our undivided attention.I’m sure this post doesn’t apply to 99 percent of you – but please help us spread the news to any families you know that will be receiving Communion this year. We provide a unique experience that isn’t available in our area and we’re trying to get the word out!
