Spring Denim Trends... and Beyond

I'm sure you've all heard that along with side parts and the laugh/cry emoji, skinny jeans now indicate you're old. I actually find all of it hilarious and am not taking any of it seriously. Based on what I've seen so far for fall denim - skinny jeans aren't going anywhere. This makes me happy because I have no intention of giving them up (or my side part, for that matter). My motto has always been to wear what you like and what looks good on you regardless of what's "in." The main difference I see for spring and also into fall is that there are now a huge variety of styles to choose from. We do get a lot of requests in the store for a variety of styles. We carry four different lines of denim, so it can be hard to get different washes in different styles with all the different lines. For spring and fall, the main ones that I've seen presented, that we are currently carrying, are flared, mom jean, boyfriend jean, and straight leg jean. Distressing is also still going to be big. The distressed look is sure to be a staple for many as a way to bring the laid-back quality to a look. If skinny jeans are still your thing, don't worry - we will still carry those as well. In terms of the flared jeans and boot cut jeans, I've seen everything from extreme to subtle. This pair from DL1961 is a bit more subtle with a fun slit. I also love this pair from Just Black Denim that has a bit more drama to it.    We've had a lot of requests for a straight leg jean but not skinny denim. I love these straight leg styles from Paige and Just Black Denim. White denim season is coming so we also have a variety of cuts in that department as well. Then, there is the mom jean and boyfriend jean. I've also seen the dad jean but I'm not quite there... yet. Regardless, baggier or looser styles are going to be big for spring and I've seen these styles for fall too. They are definitely a fun turn from the skinny jean and I plan on rocking mine with a cropped top or something more fitted tucked in. I like to balance my looks - if I have a skinny jean, I like a looser top and with looser jeans, a top with less volume is the way to go. Feel free to fill out the Bird Bag form so you can try on in the comfort of your home!
