Spring Trend Report: Ruffles

If you Google “spring fashion trends 2018,” I can all but guarantee you that every article will mention ruffles. They were around last spring and they always seem to be around in some form. But some seasons they are just more pronounced than others, and this would be one of them.The difference this year is that ruffles now come in fabrics that I have never seen before. We have a leather jacket with leather detail all down the front. There are also denim options with detail down the front, and t-shirts and sweatshirts with just a hint of ruffle at the bottom, which is nice if you don’t want too much frill.It isn’t just limited to clothing, either: shoes have joined the trend. Kate Spade, the queen of all things feminine and girly, added detail to flats and espadrilles.Last September, when doing the spring buy, I can’t tell you how many times the Seinfeld Puffy Shirt episode played in my head. We tried to pick some pared down versions – though we were careful.
