Street Style: Meet Lauren Sadlon

It’s one of those first beautiful spring days in Old Town, where the blossoms are almost at peak. We’re doing a bit of peeking ourselves into beautiful gardens adjacent to their homes on S. Fairfax Street. As we narrow in on our backdrop, Lauren greets us in a long flowered dress, and pulls her sunglasses down to say hello. She is embodying spring and we’re ready to roll.

As Lauren navigates the bricks with her heels, she speaks warmly of her daughter Sloane, who is in the fourth grade. “There’s lots of dance classes, and Sloane participates in the Alexandria Community Nutcracker every year. And yes, she’s just like mom, she loves to have her room in order.”

Lauren entered the entrepreneurial world four years ago. “Organizing has always been a passion of mine, something that comes very naturally to me. I was doing some research and had thought about starting my own little independent organizing business, and then learned about NEAT Method and their system, and it was the right fit for me. They’re all over North America, have their own product line and if we have clients move in or out of the area, we can still work with them.“

What does she love about the organizing business? “It’s the transformation, you truly change people's lives, and you see a project through from beginning to end. It’s very strategic, we help clients identify systems for their homes, so they can see what they have and spend less money. I’ll come and do a tour of your house, do a consultation, speak to your pain points, what’s working and what’s not. We also love helping our clients move. We’re a white-glove luxury service.”

Her team has grown and now includes eight to 10 organizers. Her advice: “Hold on to your precious items, but if something doesn’t fit, go ahead and let it go. Appliances, definitely let those go. There are other people that can use your stuff, so you don’t have to think of it as being wasteful.”

Right now Lauren is in go-go-go mode, but is looking forward to summer time when things slow down and it's more relaxing. “The wineries are alway awesome, especially Keswick, outside of Charlottesville. And I love The Hershey Spa, I’m from there, so I’m always drawn back.”

She also loves traveling to Europe and estimates she’s visited somewhere between 20-30 countries, “and my daughter has been to seven or eight.” Of Old Town, she says, “I love the culture and variety of restaurants…and it’s really close-knit.”
