ABOUT YOU
Favorite item of clothing in your closet? A black poncho I bought at the warehouse sale a few years ago. It’s so cozy for fall and winter and can be dressed up really easily. I wish I had bought 10 of them!Biggest inspiration? 100 percent has to be all of the incredible female business owners in Old Town. I’m always amazed by the hustle, ingenuity, and drive in our little community. It pushes me to be a better businesswoman. Dogs or cats? Dogs! We have a tiny chihuahua who is 13 years old and the sweetest little guy!
ABOUT YOUR STORE
What inspired you to start your business? I’ve been in the events industry since high school and had always envied the florists. After working in the planning and production end of the industry for years, an opportunity presented itself to buy Helen Olivia. I had no formal floral experience, and I still look back and wonder what I was thinking. Needless to say, it turned out well! What are three of your favorite items currently at your shop? That's so hard because everything for fall is so good! I’m loving all of our fall wreaths and ribbons and all the new houseplants we’re carrying. Hands down, my favorite new items are our curated gift boxes - all available for same-day delivery.Favorite Designer? Floral related, I love everything Accent Decor. All of our arrangements are designed in their vases and pots, and I really think it gives them such a unique look.Favorite “buy” of all time? This is a tough one, but my most loved (and also most complimented) is probably a green leather clutch from The Shoe Hive. It’s my go-to anytime I’m running out to dinner.
AT THIS TIME
How can the community support you and your employees during this time? We’ve been blown away by the support of our community since the beginning of the pandemic. Totally blown away. Keep doing what you’re already doing - we appreciate the business and love so much. One act of kindness you’ve witnessed? I have about 100 examples. The truth is, I think this pandemic has brought out the best in our community. Today, for example, a client bought flowers to leave – anonymously - on his neighbor’s doorstep because she was having a tough week. A favorite new hobby? Painting! My husband told me I needed a hobby (apparently work and kids aren't one?), so here we are. Top must-read books? Per my mom’s suggestion, I’m in the middle of Where The Crawdads Sing.Binge-worthy suggestion(s)? I’m actually re-watching West Wing right now for the third time. What local business have you supported this week? Monday’s Child and Junction. And, I just dropped off bags and bags of kid’s clothes to 529 Kids Consign. Favorite carry-out restaurant? Momo Sushi and Lena’s.Favorite family pastime? This time of year, we love driving out to the country to a pumpkin patch or to pick apples. Go-to at-home workout? Does chasing a toddler and baby count? Because I’m in full mom-mode at home. Working out usually means a walk around the neighborhood.
