Street Style: Tallulah Norton

If you live in this town you love shopping at all the local boutiques. Most of us forget that we can also do this for food. There is no better way to do your grocery shopping than by shopping local, and for me, that means keeping it in the family! Meet my gorgeous sister Tallulah, one of the amazing butchers at Let’s Meat on the Avenue in Del Ray, Alexandria.

I always joke that Tallulah is never short of someone to talk to at parties. Not only is she so fun and bubbly, but who doesn’t loooove to talk about food? Tallulah attended The Culinary Institute of America, the premier culinary school of the United States, and since graduating has had an impressive career that include some of our local favorites. Tallulah worked under Chef Armstrong at Restaurant Eve back in its hay day and, most recently, as one of the Sous Chefs at Kaliwa in D.C. Tallulah is a crazy talented chef and a phenomenal butcher. To put it simply, Tallulah’s meals have literally left me speechless - something my mother never would have thought possible.

If you’ve never been into Let’s Meat on the Avenue you need to go check them out and say hello to Tallulah! You’ll be pleasantly surprised to find locally sourced meat and fish perfect for every dinner and weekend barbecues alike. Get your fix of local milk, honey, cheese, and eggs. Find wonderful olive oils, cooking sauces, and dry rubs that will finish any meal off perfectly. Tallulah will be sure to take care of you!

Tallulah is wearing The Hudson L/S Tee by Rag and Bone, The Looker in Not Guilty by Mother Denim, The Sofia Belt in Burgundy by Lizzie Fortunato, The Hilty by Sam Edelman, The Beaded Pendant Necklace by Anna Beck, and Top Knot Tassel Earrings by Hart all available at The Hive and The Shoe Hive.

Truly a local girl, Penelope was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. Penelope went to James Madison University (GO DUKES!) for undergrad with a degree in International Relations and has her Masters of Science in International Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University. While she never expected to work retail, she has found a second home in her Hive and Shoe Hive family, and has discovered the shoe and clothing addiction she never thought she had. After spending 5 wonderful years at the Shoe Hive and Hive as their Director of Operations, Penelope now works in the International Development field in DC. While her new career has her more removed from the day to day buzzz of the stores, you can still find her moonlighting (or should we say some weekend-lighting) at the stores. She just couldn't stay away! When not working or hanging out with friends and family, you can be sure to find her exploring a new country or national park!
