The Smythe Three-Piece Suit Is Amazing. Here's How To Style It.

Not one, not two, but three. That’s right, a three-piece suit. Let’s take it a step further, shall we? A three-piece suit by the one and only Smythe in this season’s sweet and feminine take on lavender. Now this is a moment, ladies. This suit is made for the boss inside of all of us, that’s for sure.Of course, if you’re not a matchy-matchy person that’s A-OK. Today we’ll be breaking it down into (also very wearable) separates and focusing on how to style each piece. Here we go!

Start with the lavender One Button Blazer.

Please feel free to avoid asking yourself which colors look best with your skin tone and just try it on. There’s something about lavender that leaves you feeling angelic and airy. Everyone’s defying the rules on this one. We’ve seen soft lavender on all skin tones and it comes down to this: How do you feel? Amazing? Great, then you will emulate that feeling and therefore look amazing.

Next up, the Waistcoat (aka the vest).

You can wear the vest under the blazer to make the ultimate statement, but you’ll look just as striking if you wear each piece separately. Like the lavender blazer, the lavender vest is the focal point of any outfit. Pair with tan or black on the bottom, or even a cream colored pant if you’re feeling bold and fancy!  The blazer and the vest are great work and weekend options. What? A vest on the weekend? It’s all about the denim here! Light or dark denim works with this shade of lavender, so give it a spin. With the vest or the blazer, tuck a fitted white t-shirt into some faded boyfriend jeans. Play up the accessories -- just a bit -- and tie a pale, silk scarf around your purse handle and toss on some leopard or black patent leather slides.

Here are some color options to wear under the blazer or the vest.

Again, each is a statement piece when worn separately, so try to balance it out with neutrals, pale colors, or burnt colors. The farthest we’d go with a competing piece would be a micro floral or a polka dot blouse, but only in one of the colors below. For work, the very best top option to layer in would be a simple and understated silk blouse -- perhaps a tie neck under the vest and a simple crew or V-neck under the blazer. Even a tissue cotton turtleneck under either would look incredible.

Finally, we have the Bootcut Pant.

Smythe took it to the next level this season with this silhouette and color combination. We are a huge fan of the bootcut as it elongates your bottom half. The high-waist rise gives off somewhat of a nostalgic, 70s vibe and we are loving it. If you are bigger up top, looking to draw attention to your bottom half, or if you need to add some shape to your legs, these are a great option. Also, talk about a fun way to spice up your office look. Pair with a blouse and a nude or black heel.  Spring couldn’t come any sooner! Keep an eye out for Smythe at TSALT this spring. Expect lots of pattern, more fantastic blazers, feminine blouses, and skirts. We are expecting new arrivals on the floor in February, so get ready!
