Style Now, Wear Later: Transitional Pieces Worth the Investment
If you follow any fashion influencers or stylists, you’ve probably heard them talk about cost per wear. It’s such a smart way to think about purchases: investing in pieces you’ll wear often, styled in different ways, and across multiple seasons. Sure, you’re not pulling out a sundress in December or a winter coat in July, but the majority of your wardrobe should work year-round with just a few styling tweaks.
In my experience, the earliest deliveries of a new season offer the most versatile pieces. The fabrics are transitional, the silhouettes flexible, and they lend themselves to both summer heat and cooler fall days. With that in mind, I asked Angelica to pick a few of our July arrivals and style them for now—and later.
Her first pick: a stunning pair of Rachel Comey pants in a color that’s almost impossible to pin down—somewhere between tan and brown. That’s what makes them magic: they pair with everything. For summer, Angelica styled them with a simple Veronica Beard vest and Rachel Comey slip-on mules. Later, she layers them up with the Charlie shirt by Tibi (the perfect crisp white button-down), plus either a TWP leather vest or a cozy knit tee for fall.
Next up: a chic TWP look we can’t stop talking about—the coordinating crop muscle tee and Eva pant. Worn on their own, they’re easy and effortless for hot days. When the temps drop, add the matching TWP blazer. I especially love how Angelica paired black accessories with a blue outfit—it’s such a striking and unexpected combination.
