Elizabeth’s Top Five Picks for Spring 2024

Who’s ready for spring? I know most people are raising their hands or nodding “Yes” as they read this. Good, I have your attention. This winter has been a tough one, as we had gotten used to mild winters. I don’t think my kids have had a snow day the last few years, so they are pleased with the snow and rain…unless it means missing theater practice or youth basketball games.

Since I’m an Ohio girl I don’t mind the colder temps, but I’m always excited to see new arrivals. I also get to head south a few times this winter and hate unpacking my summer clothes. For some reason when I travel, I always want something new. So I have been anxiously awaiting these new arrivals. Of course, all the Tibi arrivals are always my favorite. There isn’t much I didn’t get for myself. But I thought I would share my top five picks for spring, along with the look book for our spring arrivals, check it out:

1) Tibi Coated Basketweave Pencil Skirt in Brown

I love Tibi and this is just one of the many items I ordered for myself for spring. I’ve learned I’m not a huge pattern person, so it helps to have items in my closet that have texture to add interest and depth to an outfit. This piece also isn’t one for 12 months out of the year but I know I will wear it through May or possibly June, and bring it back out in September.

2) Citizens of Humanity Shay Popover with Scallop in Santa Cruz

This shirt is so not me but yet I am drawn to it in a weird way. Once again, I think it’s the texture that I crave in my wardrobe to add interest.

3) Allude Jacket Shawl in Grey and Cream

This one is already in, and I’ve already worn it! I love a cozy sweater and I love anything that has a "sporty" point of view. Maybe we call it elevated athleisure or a collegiate look. But if I had to explain my style one of those words would be in the description. This Allude jacket is like a deconstructed Varsity Jacket.

4) Saint Art Finn V-Neck Charmeuse Top

I love a great top that can be dressed up or down. We are so excited about the arrival of Saint Art to The Hive. Great pieces and a great price point.

5) Hunter Bell Fields Jacket and matching Aspen Short in Army Green

I am not much of a dress girl, which is apparent with my Top Five choices for spring when this is such a big time for dresses. I am more of a shorts or skirt person but I do love a set. It gives the ease of getting dressed like a one-and-done dress can. I know I will wear these pieces separately as well. After all, you can't go wrong with a great military jacket.

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
