The Pantsuit But Elevated
I have written before about my days at the Ohio Statehouse in the mid-90s. I worked for the first female Speaker of the House, and she had a strict dress code. If the House was in session, all staff had to have on a suit. These were the days of Ally McBeal, and I decided to replicate the show’s fashion choices of really, really short skirts with my suits. I have moved on from that look and, really, from skirt suits in general. They’re not really part of my life anymore, and really not many folks have a need for a suit these days.
But I still love a good pantsuit. There is something about them that I love. I have worn them to weddings, parties, and even work when I want to dress up. Clearly, these have been at the back of my closet lately, but I am pulling them to the front and putting them back in rotation. I am happy to report we finally have a few back on our shelves at The Hive as well. You really can dress them up or down, and obviously, they don’t have to be worn together all the time either.
No matter how you style these pieces, they are great investments for anyone’s wardrobe, and we are happy we all have more reasons to get dressed these days.
