The Sneaker You Need For Summer

When it comes to sneakers, I own a lot of them. All brands at all prices. Despite having sneakers with sparkles, animal print, and all different colors, I tend to wear the plain ones the most. When the sneaker craze started, I wasn’t so sure about all-white sneakers. Maybe it was the “Dad Sneaker” versions that scared me. They seemed heavy and a little bright. But I purchased a Veronica Beard pair a few years back, then a Veja pair about a year ago, and even though I have rows and rows of interesting sneakers in my closet, those are the two I wear the most.

White sneakers just go with everything, obviously, but they do the opposite of what I was worried about. They don’t make a look heavy; they actually lighten a look and keep it from looking too casual. White sneakers are the perfect travel option as well. Perfect for long days of walking around sightseeing, yet dressy enough to take you to dinner. One of my friends just went to Paris, and she said everyone was wearing white Veja sneakers.

It has been a bit since we ordered Vince, but as I was searching for a great slip-on white sneaker, I remember how much I loved my Blair and Warren sneakers from years ago. They were the first sneaker that we really carried. Vince, of course, has stayed true to their classics and added a few new styles as well. I am always a sucker for a retro runner style, so the Ohara is next up on my need-to-purchase list. I like that it is cream and white.

So if you are looking for a great new sneaker, come check out our Vince selection. Perfect for summer and the perfect price.

Owner | The Hive, The Shoe Hive, and Yellow Jacket

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
