The Summer Staple

We all know that sometimes clothes look better on an actual person than they do on a hanger. So, as we prepared for our Shorts and Sweatshirt Sale and noticed all the cute sweatshirts that hadn't sold, we knew we needed to put them on a person to show how great they are. So who did we call? Well, the face of The Shoe Hive website - Courtney Rivkin, of course!

Despite her busy schedule, she is always willing to pitch in and get in front of the camera for us, and her positive energy shines through in all the photos, so how could we go wrong!  I gave Madeline the task of showing off how to style these great pieces. As a lover of the "fancy sweatshirt" (okay, I like the non-fancy ones as well) and as the accumulator of a stack of Ohio-related sweatshirts, I could take a sweatshirt posting a lot of different directions. But we are here to talk about the dressier ones, and in my humble opinion, there is nothing more versatile than an elevated sweatshirt. You can dress them up or down; they aren't too hot like a sweater can sometimes be, and the best part: you don't have to get them dry cleaned.

I know that we are done with our speedy two weeks of "spring" here in the DMV, and now it is hot outside, but we still need some long sleeves. It cools off at night, and if you are indoors avoiding the heat like me, the AC is so dang cold that you need something to throw on that looks cute. Well, we have all the sweatshirts you could ever need. Clearly, when I see one in a brand's collection, I can't resist ordering it for myself. We have all colors, all shapes, and all sizes.

Stop in and see our great selection. I know seeing Courtney in them will get people through the doors. Of course, we have plenty of great shorts to pair them with as well, and they are marked down too. Shop the Sweatshirt and Shorts Sale through Monday, May 30 in-store and online. Now is the time to stock up!

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
