Introducing Sophique Milano At The Shoe Hive

I am always looking for good flats. The irony is never lost on me that I, the woman with a high heel shoe in her company logo, can’t really wear heels anymore. I wish I could, and I love the way heels look, but I can’t walk in them very well at this point. That’s probably why I am such an AGL loyalist. When it comes to good-looking flats that are comfortable, that’s the line I turn to.

But I am always on the lookout for new lines that meet that cool-plus-comfortable standard.

I found it last year with Sophique Milano. Clearly, based on the name, these shoes are made in a country that knows a thing or two about shoes: Italy. Founded in 2020 by Sofia, a Milanese woman, who wanted a shoe that promoted the craftsmanship and quality of made in Italy. This line is classic loafers and mules that are all made by hand with Italian leather.

I have always loved a loafer. I often talk about how I would go back to school shopping with my Grandmother at The Hub, a great small department store in the small town of Danville, Kentucky, and purchase my annual new pair of Bass Weejuns. I couldn’t leave Stanford until I had a new pair and my Grandmother had placed shiny new pennies in them. I feel like these loafers are a grown-up version of my Weejuns.

To kick off the arrival of this brand we are offering 20 percent off all loafers and flats this weekend, starting Thursday, March 23 through Sunday, March 26. Don’t worry, if you can’t make it in, the sale is happening online as well. Just shop the flats section on our site and 20 percent will be taken off when you check out.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
