Three Healthy Tips

We are always trying to be healthier every single day. With new health and fitness trends constantly popping up, it can sometimes feel overwhelming to decide which ones to follow. Luckily for us, we sat down with the incredible Culinary Coach, Kristen Coffield of The Culinary Cure. She told us three simple, healthy habits that will kick start us to be the masters of our own wellness, professional success, and personal well-being. The best part? We can all start these immediately to get on the right health track.  

Manage Technology

Technology is a new habit that we have learned, whether you've grown up with it or not. We’ve created all of these habitual behaviors that are now affecting our daily lives. This includes our sleep patterns, distractions, and relationships. Our gadgets are rewiring our brains and they’ve become addictive. Sleep is essential for our well-being. It is also extremely impacted by our phones and tablets. We really need to look at boundaries on technology to sleep better. Your phone and iPad need to go to bed an hour before you do. Take a break from the blue light on these screens because this constantly stimulates our brains. Read a book, mediate, or schedule earlier newsfeed scroll times, so you won’t be doing it right before your head hits the pillow. 

Powerful Morning Routine

The first hour of your day sets the tone for the rest of your day. This will determine how productive you'll be and even how your day will end. When you wake up, always take a moment and think about what you need to accomplish and take a moment to be grateful. Kristen also recommends always drinking warm lemon water. This includes half a lemon, filtered water and simply heat it up in the microwave for about 30-40 seconds. Exercise is also a great way to start your day with feel-good hormones and will even help you sleep better that night. 

Water

Use water as a tool. Hydration is the key to health. We need 100 ounces of water a day, but not all at once. It’s best to do 10 ounces an hour for 10 hours a day. A glass of warm lemon water and herbal tea count. It sounds silly, but if you’re not measuring your water, you’re probably not drinking enough. In the winter, herbal tea is great because we have the same water requirements, but sometimes don’t feel as thirsty. If you're properly hydrated, you'll make better food choices, you won't feel hangry, depleted, tired, and you won't crave sugar or salty foods.  Make sure to listen to more of Kristen’s tips on our latest podcast episode:
