Tea Time In Old Town

It’s time for tea in Old Town! Recently, a few girlfriends and I started off a girl’s day out with afternoon tea at the newly opened Lady Camellia Tea Room on Alexandria’s waterfront. Lady Camellia had previously been in Georgetown before closing in 2020. Now, the popular tearoom has found a home here in Old Town, right across the patio from Hummingbird and down the path from Monte hair salon. Situated facing the waterfront, there is a beautiful view from every seat!

I booked a reservation in advance for a morning brunch, because there’s no better way to spend the morning than by the river! The sunshine lit up the pastel pink dining room and kept us warm despite the chill that day. As we walked in, we were greeted by the most delicious smell of freshly baked goods and were seated at a perfectly set table by the window. The room was adorable, and the place setting looked like it was straight out of my American Girl Doll tea sets, covered in a floral and butterfly print. My inner child's heart was so full!

Lady Camellia’s weekend afternoon tea service, also served at brunch, includes their full tea menu with two finger sandwiches, two scones, four pastries, and one choice of tea per guest. As a group of four, we were brought a variety of items with our tea of choice. I was happy I didn’t have to choose from the menu and got to try a bit of everything! The scones were my favorite – scones with clotted cream and jam is something I rarely get to have but I always enjoy when I do.

Going out to tea is an elegant and luxurious experience at Lady Camellia. I’m excited to have a tearoom here in Old Town as an alternative outing to brunches and happy hours. We all agreed that its Pinterest and Instagram-worthy decor and dishware added to the overall experience and made it the perfect setting for a girls-day-out!

I highly recommend booking a reservation ahead of time, especially if you plan to go with a larger group. Lady Camellia is located on 229 Strand Street and open from 1PM to 4PM on Tuesday through Sunday with morning reservations available on the weekend starting at 10:30am.
