Monday Musings

We’ve all seen the meme of the 12 unofficial seasons of Virginia. Every year it makes its rounds right around this time and is hilariously on point. We’re hovering somewhere between “Spring of Deception” and “Third Winter,” and on the cusp of “The Pollening.” (If you’re as allergic as I am, it’s time to start your regimen!) All these changes are quite frankly, confusing. Our advice: stay focused on new beginnings. Spring will be here shortly, and for good. So, start getting ready with new jackets, gifts, and goals. Here are our Monday Musings to inspire you….

Adrien: “Women Have Been Misled About Menopause” by Susan Dominus portrays the decades-long fallacy that menopausal symptoms and experiences aren’t as painful, difficult, and life-changing as they really are. Read Susan’s full article in The New York Times here. Do you want to break the silence on your own experience? Do you want a pathway to feeling better in your body? Elizabeth: This spring is all about a cropped jacket and we just received the perfect one from Smythe. Some folks don’t always like the fit of Smythe but love the fabrics and shapes. Well, this is the jacket you have been waiting for. The fit is perfection.

Britt: One of our clients introduced me to a wonderful organization that I want to share with you, too. Rising Hope Mission Church serves 150 local families along the Route 1 corridor every week. They have several programs to help those without housing including the Hope Closet which provides hygiene items, clothing, and basic resources for daily life. Rising Hope also provides overnight emergency shelter for up to 24 individuals experiencing homelessness from December through March. Volunteers from community churches and local civic groups provide a hot, home-cooked dinner, breakfast bags, and overnight volunteer staff each night.

Amy: A new batch of darling baby gifts has arrived at Red Barn Mercantile. These Baby Blanket Gift Sets are some of the sweetest we've ever seen. Each kit includes an organic cotton reversible blanket, a cotton baby hat (with ears!), and a cotton rattle teether.
