Transitioning to Spring: Wear Now and Wear Later

We have been shopping for clients the last few weeks and spring has sprung! When we shop early spring, temperatures are still cool so we focus on transitional pieces. These are "season-less" pieces we can style now by layering, and then wear later by removing layers. When I emailed my friend and local artist Dominique Fierro to model for us, I knew her creative spirit and vibrancy would be perfect for this spring-inspired post!

The Silk Blouse

Who doesn't love a fun, whimsical stripe for spring? The statement sleeve trend is also still going strong and adds a relaxed, Boho element. To wear now, pair with dark jeans, layer with a jacket, and add loafers. The key is that the blouse should be a silky material (silk, rayon, poly-blend) -- not a fabric that is really only for warm weather like an eyelet, linen, or cotton. Also, if you go for a top with a sleeve, the light silk easily tucks into a blazer sleeve.[nemus_slider id="46962"]Once sunny days kick in, unleash the sleeves, lose the jacket, and pair with light-wash spring jeans and fun mules!

The Midi Dress

We add more dresses to my clients' closets in the spring than any other season. One of my favorite ways to winter-ize a warm-weather look is the sleeveless dress-boxy sweater styling hat trick. Again, you'll want to pay attention to fabric. It's fine to have a light colors and even a spring-inspired pattern (like floral, etc.), but the fabric shouldn't be a warm weather-only fabric. Also, note the fit of the sweater. This shouldn't be a fitted sweater. It should have a boxy, relaxed fit to create a purposefully oversize look.Again, once those temperatures, rise, lose the sweater, add some heeled sandals and a statement earrings for the perfect spring night out look![nemus_slider id="46974"]
