Unleash Your Inner Artist: Creative Evenings at Boxwood Old Town
As a shop owner for over six years, I’ve come to realize that certain artists, vendors, and makers take on a special place in my heart. Sometimes it’s the love I feel for their creations, other times it’s the people themselves...their story, their spirit, their spark. At Boxwood, those “special” relationships are what bring the shop to life.
That’s why I couldn’t be more excited to share that one of our absolute favorites is coming to town—all the way from London! Some of you already know and love her work, but for those who haven’t had the chance, allow me to introduce Aurélie Baudry Palmer.
Aurélie is a French illustrator living in London, continuously inspired by her love of architecture, the arts, history, and the natural world. Her signature style—mixing ink drawing with watercolor to create lighthearted and delicate illustrations—has gained international recognition. Her work has been commissioned by HRH the Princess of Wales, Fortnum & Mason, luxury hotel groups, boutique textile brands, and major publishers. Aurelie’s art feels like a love letter to everyday beauty, and her hand-painted house portraits, calendars, and bespoke illustrations are cherished by customers around the world.
At Boxwood, we’ve been delighted to share Aurélie’s art in note cards, calendars, and tea towels, brought to us through our partnership (and dear friend) Mary Tobias of Carland Collections. That introduction led to something even more special: Aurélie discovered Alexandria, fell in love with Old Town’s charm, and in turn, we fell in love with her art. This October, we are thrilled to welcome Aurélie to Boxwood in person. Together with Carland Collections, we’ll be hosting a “Meet the Artist” evening along with two hands-on watercolor workshops—an experience we cannot wait to share with you.

Mahjong Mondays: Now with More Dates!
If you’ve been to one of our Mahjong Mondays, you already know how much fun they are! Boxwood, together with our friends at Lowery’s Dial, has been hosting these evenings filled with strategy, laughter, and plenty of camaraderie. They’ve quickly become so popular that we’re adding two more dates to the calendar: September 22 and October 20.
These new sessions are designed especially for seasoned players—those who already know the game well, are looking for a table to join, and enjoy a little more competitive play.
The additional dates will be hosted at Lowery’s Dial at 1225 King Street giving our Mahjong community even more opportunities to gather and play.
We hope to see your inner artist or mahjongger come out soon!
