Veronica Beard and Cisco Home: Get the Look
I was struggling for something to write about this week and really wanted to highlight Red Barn Mercantile’s semi-annual upholstery sale. When I saw Elizabeth’s post: Styled Looks with Veronica Beard it hit me – I haven’t done an outfit to room article in a long time, so why not give that a go?!
With three stores, a whole room takes a little too long, so instead I took three looks from Elizabeth’s Veronica Beard trunk show and threw together the bones of a room. Just imagine family photos, a collection of artwork, treasures collected over time and you essentially have three outfits to a room.
Warning: there is a lot of blue. Though, that shouldn’t surprise anyone who has been reading our posts for a while. I started with Tayo in the Tamara vest and Jude pants. Give me chambray linen all day long. If I thought I could pull off that look as well as Tayo I’d own both of those pieces. Instead, furniture always fits.
We have a gorgeous chambray navy blue linen that I’m obsessed with. That would be my base for the room. Though this outfit doesn’t have stripes it does feel a bit sailor-y so I threw in stripes for a beachy feel. I love the idea of the dark wood of the Montauk chair – a pair will do – with the striped fabric. The fact that the chairs are so airy really complements the more solid Dahlia slipcovered sofa. A bright shiny nickel lamp with texture captures the buttons and really drives home the crispness of such a stunning ensemble, and throw in a Khan Tahoe Linen Pillow.
Outfit number two – again, a lot of blue – is Courtney’s sassy Moxie miniskirt and Lachlen pullover. Call me crazy, but I’m all in on a white sofa. Do this one in linen or white denim and use bleach. The Seda sofa is my favorite. So much so that I have one in my living room. (BTW, I have a Dahlia sectional in my basement) That touch of dark and light blue in the sweater shows up on the lamp and side table, both of which have great texture. I love the light blue velvet ottoman to ground the whole thing just as that super cute miniskirt does. When doing solids, a room full of texture is what you need. Oh, and those Pollara Indigo Linen pillows — the absolute best!!
Last but not least, Ally in neutrals! I mean, I could have done the Gemma Maxi Dress which looks amazing, but I wanted to spare you more blue. If it’s not blue, then it’s neutrals. Again, with tons of texture. The grayish-brown Taylor high rise wide leg pants with the creamy ivory Spruce top is my idea of stylish dressing. So simple and so chic. For this combo I wanted to keep everything very angular. Usually, I like to balance a straight-arm sofa with something a little curvy, but I thought this just screamed for a set.
If you’re going to do a set then I recommend the Lannister sofa with the Lannister chair (which you can swivel!). It’s insanely comfortable. For this one I’m going with a slubby cotton cotton ash slipcover and an ivory linen for the chairs. Brass accents for the coffee table and the lamp itself continue to warm up this set as the buttons do on her blouse. A piece of glass covers two beautiful, caned surfaces on the coffee table giving even more texture. I couldn’t let this room go without a little something organic to break up the angles. The Savoie Egypt Linen Pillows are just perfect!
