What We’re Loving: Spring Views, Eats and Venues

We’re sharing what we’re loving this spring — from the best patios for al fresco dining to stunning gardens to flower-filled escapes. Our contributors highlighted some of their faves in the DMV and perhaps you can add a few more to your own list:

Rachel, Helen Olivia Floral: I have the best memories of being a kid and visiting Dumbarton Oaks Garden with my mom in Georgetown. I still visit every spring and bring my kids now – it is absolutely magical. If you’re looking for something similar in Alexandria, I love visiting River Farm. It’s right off the parkway and has beautiful river views and a great children’s garden.

Lauren, XML Financial Group: Burnside Farms festival of spring is a great outing where you get to pick your own flowers! Schwartz Peony Garden at Seneca Creek State Park is absolutely stunning in May and one of my favorite local weekend activities.

Maria, Salon deZEN: Crimson Lane Vineyards is our go-to for soaking up spring in style, gorgeous views, great wine, and the perfect al fresco vibes.

Kristin, Kristin Try Interiors: We are anxiously waiting for some warmer weather to return to our outdoor entertaining and pizza and wine nights! Cheers!

Don, Don Ripper Fine Art: I like walking through the neighborhood at night and paying attention to how flowers transform in the dark. Streetlights and moonlight change their colors—bright reds become deep maroons, and whites take on a ghostly glow. The contrast of shadow and light makes for striking compositions. I bring a sketchbook or take photos. It’s a great way to see familiar plants in a new way and push your creativity in a different direction.

Kendall, Moneta Accounting Solutions: We love the rooftop at Hank’s Oyster Bar.

Ali, ALH Style: I love a Landini martini while dining outside :)

Amy, Red Barn Mercantile, Penny Post, Pippin Toy Co.: I love the little courtyard at Josephine's for dining al fresco. It feels tucked away and secluded, perfect for an intimate lunch or dinner with your favorite people. Be sure to get a French 75 and the Gougeres as an appetizer. You can thank me later!

Celthia, Bellacara: Barca Pier and Wine Bar is a great place to catch up with friends over tapas and drinks on the water! I love the chill Mediterranean vibe. Feels like vacay!

Adrien, Adrien Cotton Wellness: No equipment necessary – long walks with friends with no tech! Soak up the sun, connect with a loved one and get a win-win!

Katelin, Family First Law: I love brunching al fresco at Jula's on the Potomac in the Spring. I take walks through Oronoco Bay Park and Tide Lock Park during my day to get a little vitamin D and refresh my brain in the afternoon, being by the water, and seeing spring come to life in all the flowers and trees always makes me happy. And of course the Cherry Blossoms in downtown are always beautiful, despite the crowds, I really enjoy seeing them.

Britt, The Patterson GroupSpring is in the air! What better way to embrace the warmer weather than in a breathtaking home on one of Alexandria’s most prestigious streets, offering year-round views of the Potomac River! Perched above its neighbors, this stunning residence provides an unparalleled vantage point to watch the sunrise over the horizon each morning. With over 4,500 finished square feet across three levels, it features a spacious and versatile layout, perfect for both elegant entertaining and effortless everyday living. See 7824 Southdown Road.
