What We’re Loving: Summer Nail Colors in a Seasonal Palette
While we've been cruising around Old Town – walking, shopping, attending openings, having cocktails on the water (or rooftop), catching up with friends – we’ve also been checking out each other’s nails. So we asked our contributors to share the summer hues they’re loving; see if any of these shades and styles work for you.
Taylor, The Patterson Group: Here's a photo of my nails at the moment. They're oval-shaped with no tips (my natural nails), using builder-in-a-bottle gel. This look is a twist on the classic French manicure, elevated with a pop of matcha green.
Adrien, Adrien Cotton Wellness: Even though these midlife hands work hard at strength training, running a business, and caring for my family and community, they can still look good. This week's vibrant blue makes me smile every time I look at it.
Amy, Red Barn Mercantile, Penny Post, Pippin Toy Co.: Red. It's always my color of choice that is only varied by the tone for the season. This one is OPI's "So Hot It Berns." A throwback from previous election years but somehow appropriate for summer.
Kristen Mahoney, Women’s Therapy & Wellness: I had been doing Gel X nails (nail extensions) for a while, but decided to give my nails a break a few months back. Recently, I've switched to short nails and have been using builder gel to help grow out my natural nails. My latest manicure is a milky pink with a pop of hot pink at the base.
Maria Elizabeth, Salon deZEN: I’m here for the pink nail trend and currently the almond shape is my fave!
Ashley, Caravela: Color: Tomato; Russian manicure Yolo Nails in McLean. They’re short for the summer! Square with slightly rounded edges.
Katelin, Family First Law: Salon Meraki, rose dip powder with iridescent finish, rounded!
Rainbow, Alexandria Stylebook: I’ve been doing Gel X for the past couple months in a very light, marshmallow shade. I love bright colors for the summer, but with all the running around I’m doing, I’ve been playing it safe (and a bit basic). This lasts for three weeks – and the lighter color makes the growth less noticeable. I recently met Jade Trusso who is opening Nothing in Between Nail Studio on King Street (her 3rd location!) in August – and after speaking with her I’m definitely ready for something shorter, more manageable and better for my nails!
