What We're Up To at Alx&Co.

I am officially kicking myself for jinxing 2022. Why? Because I spent the last few weeks of 2021 talking about how the year had actually been "not too bad" logistically, and now... let's just say 2022 has been a roller coaster of chaos.

Between canceled school for snow (or... not snow?), canceled school for COVID exposure, actual COVID exposure, and general springtime colds now hitting, I can honestly say that there has not been a single week in 2022 that has gone uninterrupted by an unexpected low-key disaster. We thought we had finished the craziness in January, then February hit. Then we thought with February done, we had hope. Then, March started, and we already have two days home from school. It's a nightmare!

Fortunately, our clients have been incredibly supportive and understanding of these events. Truly: we are not alone, and parents everywhere are feeling it lately. And, on top of all that, the world kind of feels like it's combusting. But, despite all this *gesticulates around*, we continue to design, create, and run our business the best way we know how: with heart.

  • We had a wonderful fundraiser in February - thank you to everyone who shopped our sale and helped us raise funds for The One Love Foundation. We'll be sharing our next fundraiser event in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!

  • I had a birthday, and while it was spent quarantined with my family, it was one of the loveliest I've ever had. Can't beat a hike up Red Oak Mountain with my boys (including shop dog Bill!)

  • We released The One collection and received such positive reviews: thank you! WE can't wait to see all the beautiful customizations to this collection.

  • We held our first After Hours event and will be holding our second one this month! Join us at The Studio on Thursday, March 24th at 6:30pm for a discussion of fine jewelry and fine whiskey as we sit down with our dear friend, James D'Arcy, brand ambassador for The Edrington Group and fine spirits connoisseur. If you've been dying to see The Studio but don't have a project in mind - or maybe you do! This is the perfect opportunity to get to know us in a stress-free environment. Enjoy guided whisky pairings and sit back for an evening of the finer things. Registration is required, but the event is complimentary.

  • We have been working behind the scenes to create a new scheduling system that will make booking an appointment with us so much easier - hallelujah! We can't wait to share this with you when it's ready.

  • Amazing news! We were selected as one of Virginia Living Magazine's Top Wedding Vendors for 2022! We're so honored to play a small but pivotal role in our client's weddings, so thank you!

Creative Director & Co-Owner | Alexandria and Company

I came to join Alexandria & Company by way of love: my husband Tim has owned the shop for nearly ten years, and I started by helping him on Saturdays so that we could spend more time together. Eventually, I quit my other life in the legal field to become Alx&Co’s Creative Director and co-owner with Tim. Now, we run our small business together in Old Town and I haven't looked back.

Alexandria & Company is an Old Town-based workshop and design studio specializing in creating and restoring fine jewelry and silver hollowware. They are the in-the-know jewelers of Alexandria and have been serving clients out of their small workshop for decades. Tucked in their historic building on South Royal Street, the team at Alx&Co. brings a personalized, modern approach to their craft – this is not your average stodgy jeweler or antique shop. Visit them online to view their collection of handmade fine jewelry; or, if you’re feeling creative, make an appointment to talk about that custom design project you’ve been imagining.
