Where Did Summer Go? A Season of Projects, Progress, and a Peaceful Escape
If you're anything like me, you're probably wondering—where did summer go? One minute we were easing into June, and now the kids are back in school and fall is knocking at the door. Every year I tell myself it’ll slow down, and every year it seems to fly by even faster.
At Kristin Try Interiors (KTI), we’ve been full steam ahead with projects in various stages, and I’m thrilled to share that we finally launched our brand-new website! It’s been a long time coming, and you can now explore it at KristinTryInteriors.com. We’ve designed it to better showcase our work and make room for exciting new projects coming later this fall and winter.
One of the things I’m most excited about is scheduling professional photo shoots for our latest completed spaces. These shoots are truly a labor of love—coordinating with our talented photographer and stylist, planning every detail, and making sure each space is captured just right. It’s a significant investment of time and energy, but it’s also one of the most rewarding parts of the process. I can’t wait to share more behind-the-scenes moments and insights into how we bring these shoots to life.
On a more personal note, we managed to sneak in one last family vacation before the school year began—a long-awaited trip to Alaska! We started in Seattle, where we enjoyed some classic sights like the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass, and Pike Place Market (I was obsessed with the dahlias!). Then we boarded a cruise to Alaska, a trip we’ve talked about for years. My husband took the reins on planning, and we were lucky to have my parents join us from Michigan. We missed our oldest, Lilly, who’s back at college and busy with the Sports Medicine club helping the football team gear up for the season.
Alaska was everything we hoped for and more. We explored Sitka, Hoonah, Juneau, and even spent a lovely evening in Victoria, British Columbia. But my favorite moments were spent on the boat, soaking in the breathtaking views—glaciers, mountains, whales, and endless wilderness. It was peaceful, inspiring, and a beautiful reminder of how deeply nature influences my design work.
I’ve pulled together a few of our favorite photos from the trip to share with you, and if you're curious about the cruise or planning a similar adventure, feel free to reach out—I’d love to chat!
Here’s to a fresh season ahead, full of creativity, connection, and maybe a little more time to slow down (fingers crossed).
Cheers!
— Kristin
