Glamping (Glamorous Camping) and What To Wear!

We are all seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. As more and more people are getting vaccinated, countries, flights, and getaways are opening back up! I personally could fall out of my seat with excitement. With that being said, having already looked into all the countries I am itching to get to, there are still a lot that are either not accessible or somewhat tedious to get to, even if vaccinated. For example, a vaccinated person can go to the UK, but it still requires a negative Covid test prior to departure, a 10-day quarantine, and a negative Covid test on day two and day eight of the stay. . . As much as I love visiting London, I will be holding off for now and focus my traveling closer to home!

During the pandemic, going camping was a real life saver for me. It was something new and exciting that kept me outdoors and socially distant. It really allowed me to explore new places and scratched my travel itch. Given the inconsistencies and unknowns of a lot of international travel, I plan to still use camping as my major outlet for travel. For those that don’t want to take on full blown camping - glamping, cabins, and lodges are the next best thing! Now that hospitality facilities are open, it’s a great way to experience nature while being taken care of. Admittedly, most people don’t want to have to worry about cooking every meal and where to find electricity while vacationing.

Now the question is, “what to wear?” If you happen to be interested in trying camping, let me know, and I can give you some guidance on gear and recommend that your clothes are bought at REI! Haha! If you are going to go the glamping route, these are the outfits I suggest from the Hive and Shoe Hive. Glamping will afford you some amazing outdoor activities that you want to be prepared for, but also nicer restaurant options or a town close by that you may want to check out and have dinner in. Be prepared for it all, and have fun exploring!

Truly a local girl, Penelope was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. Penelope went to James Madison University (GO DUKES!) for undergrad with a degree in International Relations and has her Masters of Science in International Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University. While she never expected to work retail, she has found a second home in her Hive and Shoe Hive family, and has discovered the shoe and clothing addiction she never thought she had. After spending 5 wonderful years at the Shoe Hive and Hive as their Director of Operations, Penelope now works in the International Development field in DC. While her new career has her more removed from the day to day buzzz of the stores, you can still find her moonlighting (or should we say some weekend-lighting) at the stores. She just couldn't stay away! When not working or hanging out with friends and family, you can be sure to find her exploring a new country or national park!
