A Blue And White Love Affair

The classic color combination of blue and white is irresistible. Why, you ask? It goes well with everything. Just like a favorite pair of blue jeans and a crisp white shirt can supply one with endless clothing options, blue and white, in home décor, does the same thing. This combination plays well with every color in the rainbow. One of our favorite “blue and white” designers, Mark D. Sikes, demonstrates it in this Beverly Hills home. Notice the different shades of blue.

Our blue room shows the great combination of blue and browns.

While most of us tend to think of the bolder shades of blue, this cottage kitchen demonstrates a soft shade of blue, which keeps the space light and airy.

Blue and white makes a statement. A collection of blue and white creates a visual exclamation point. These porcelain pieces come in different shapes, sizes, and patterns.

Strive to vary the heights and sizes, to make a display intriguing.

Let’s not forget to decorate outside with this classic combination.

Patina Polished Living was created 10 years ago by friends Amanda Mertins and Kimberly Weiler.

Amanda Mertins was born in Ohio and graduated the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics. She started moving and editing furniture and accessories while in grade school and hasn’t stopped since. She enjoys baking desserts and playing with her grandchildren.

Kim Weiler was born in Pennsylvania and graduated the University of the Arts with a degree in graphic design. Upon graduating, she was immediately hired by one of her professors at the Katz Wheeler Design firm. She loves design, gardening, sweet tea and all French bulldogs.

Amanda and Kim are excellent complements to one another-one could even say the Yin and Yang of design. Being very different people but with interconnected forces is the reason their partnership continues to flourish.
