My husband has always wanted to show me where he spent seven years of his life growing up. It just happens to be Switzerland, specifically Lausanne, on the shores of Lake Geneva. So here I am, sitting on our hotel balcony. But since Patina isn’t a travel blog or restaurant review site, let’s move on to something a little closer to home—our gorgeous rechargeable lamps

I remember being as excited as my kids for school to let out for the summer. It was always nice to have a change of pace, to enjoy beach trips, eat lots of watermelon, and simply be. Summer is a time to pause, breathe, and reconnect—with ourselves, with others, and with the world around us. The retailers in Old Town started Plaid Friday, The Alexandria Sidewalk Sale, The Alexandria Warehouse Sale and Alexandria Stylebook, and now we are adding a new spring event to the mix: The Old Town Spring Fling. There are 30 stores that are participating and each one has a special event or trunk show they’re hosting.

After a 14-month renovation, my husband and I were thrilled to move back into our home. We are enjoying our new kitchen along with the dining area and family room addition.
