A Walk Through Old Town

Being in Colorado was beyond relaxing and wonderful. It was a much-needed reboot and start to the fall season. The cool air was invigorating and seeing everyone walking around in shorts during the day and switching to boots, sweaters, and jeans in the evening spurred my inner fashionista spirit. I have a “Colorado” wardrobe that I leave out there that consists of classics, but my mind started spinning with thoughts of these fabulous new fall clothes that are just now hitting the shops. As a small boutique owner, I always prefer to shop small businesses.

With my shop on pause for the fall and winter season, I took an hour or two and hit some of my favorite Old Town Boutiques to see what’s new in town! I started at The Hive and instantly fell in love with a blue cashmere cardigan. Next, my eyes fell on a stunning classic black blouse with swans.

My next stop was Bishop Boutique. Of course, I immediately fell in love with two things. Camouflage is a huge trend this year and green is one of my favorite colors, so I couldn’t resist the camo sneaker booties to pair with my green leather jeans. I’m a believer in easy dressing these days and have always been a fan of jumpsuits, so the jean jumpsuit was a necessity.

Next, I remembered Angela from Bellacara raving about a face cream, so I headed there. Ten minutes later, I was convinced and walked out with the Augustinus Bader cream. (Three days later and my skin feels amazing!) Angela said I need to use it for 27 days and would be amazed at the results. I can’t wait!

I had a great parking spot, so I continued my spree and walked over to Periwinkle where I found an incredible workout tank, darling leggings, and a red silk scarf that will pair perfectly with the blouse from The Hive.

I was now in a time crunch and needed to be down the parkway, but just had to stop at The Queen Bee and Claire Schwab Design. It was such a delight to be with these two friendly, energetic ladies. I walked out with a picture frame, several more masks and chains (they have a huge selection), another jumpsuit, and a wrap.

I wish I had more time that day to hit so many of the other fabulous boutiques in Old Town and Del Ray. That will have to be on my “to do” list this week. (Watch out Katya and She’s Unique - Keeley is coming to visit and we’ll see you soon!) I had the best time interacting with the owners and employees of these shops. Even more so, I loved that I ran into someone I knew in every store. This defines our wonderful town and neighborhood.

Please remember these great local businesses and forget Amazon for a while. They all practice social distancing and sanitizing. I travel quite a bit, but I am always intrigued and love all of the unique and exquisite items that I can find in our town. Most of them have great websites up and do curbside delivery. In fact, someone did a curbside pickup from Bishop Boutique while I was in there.

I hope that many of you will pick a day and make it to these local shops. I felt such a great energy from everyone that day and it made me feel such love for Old Town.
