Why Summer’s The Perfect Time To Create Wellness Habits

Granted, old habits can be hard to change. But I’m a big believer that we can change them  – and there’s plenty of science to back me up. The really good news is that even small changes can lead to truly transformative results, as I’ve seen time and time again in my business.

Wellness is a journey. And one of the most important you’ll ever take. The first step involves shifting your mindset to one where you and your wellness are a top priority. From there, I recommend starting small, developing new habits slowly, and building on them once they are a part of your daily routine.

Aligning your calendar with your core values is a great place to begin. As a priority, wellness should be scheduled on our calendars. Just like we allot time for our other priorities – such as work, faith, family, and friends – our wellness should be planned too. Our workouts, walks, meditations, meals, and, yes, even our bedtime “reverse-alarm” should be scheduled. If not, it’s easy to let them slip! This also means saying “no” to things that are not contributing to our wellness, scheduling buffer times between meetings and appointments, and ensuring our own self-care needs are being met.

Calendar control is just one part of my holistic approach to wellness. However, in my 20 years of experience as a fitness and wellness coach, I’ve seen the most wellness success when my clients (and myself!) have mastered this habit. Our clients recognize how their calendars – and what they do and don’t schedule on them – can optimize their wellness.

Sadly, women often don’t take control of their calendars and time. We can lose vital hours on things we don’t value. Days go by. Weeks go by. Then, yes, years pass, and we don’t achieve our health and wellness goals.

Summer is the ideal time to prioritize ourselves and begin to develop habits that will help us reach those goals. Why not get your wellness habits in place before the fall and holiday season (typically the busiest time in our lives)? Remember, wellness is largely about finding what works for you and sticking to it! What we build this summer can help us create a year full of strength, energy, and confidence.

Through my Small Group Concierge Wellness virtual program, you now have the opportunity to join live, facilitated sessions designed to educate and inspire. Choose your core values and learn how to create the habits you need for optimal wellness.
