An Alexandria Socialite’s Fall Calendar

Back to school came and went, and now all sorts of things are filling up the calendar. I love all the fall through end-of-year events in Alexandria! I am always at events either supporting a nonprofit that has a great mission, because it’s tied to a board I volunteer on, or just because it’s a fun gathering. It’s great to catch up with friends and make new ones, and for me it’s always a chance to network, which is essential for my business.

Here are the top events that are a must-attend for me from now till the end of the year in Alexandria:

Alexandria Seaport Foundation’s Wine on the Waterfront

This is a fun event with a great waterfront view and drinking wine in cocktail attire! The Alexandria Seaport Foundation has a great mission and real success in helping youth from Alexandria learn technical skills, but more importantly to learn life skills. I always recognize so many people at this event!

Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival

It’s always fun to sit on the lawn of Mount Vernon with friends on a blanket drinking wine!  I love the Fall Wine Festival as it is normally a little cooler in temp!  This event is so fun because there are tours of the house offered and other special appearances!  I am always impressed with the newest restorations and projects they are completing and always walk away with a fun fact!  For instance that George Washington had a dog he named Sweet Lips! Huzzah!

Senior Services Oktoberfest at Port City Brewing

Do you have a lederhosen? Some beer goggles? Or just love having a beer in the fall with friends for a good cause? If the answer was YES to any of the above then this event is for you! There’s always good German food and an Oompah band to boot. Plus Senior Services is a nonprofit in Alexandria that runs a host of essential services for seniors like Meals on Wheels. So a good time and a good cause, Prost!

Carpenter’s Cook Off

I was just speaking with a group of women and this came up as one of the top fall events not to miss. One, because of the really critical work done by the Carpenter’s Shelter for the homeless of Alexandria, and two, because the food is really great, and it’s very family-friendly!

The Chamber ALX’s Best in Business

If you own or support a business in Alexandria, or need to network for a living, this is a not to miss event! Packed with tasty bites from all your favorite restaurants and some good humored competition to be the best business in Alexandria!

October 26, 2024

Waynewood Witches Ride

What a super fun event! Dawn your best witch outfit (good or bad, you decide), bring your mini and enjoy this fun Halloween event in Waynewood. It’s cuteness overload!

October 27, 2024

Del Ray Halloween Parade

I hate to miss the parade because the costumes and creativity are just amazing! Plus the Alexandria High School Marching Band always keeps everything so upbeat! And it’s so easy to enter into the parade, for those more brave and creative than me (I will watch from the sidelines, thanks!). I like touring around and seeing the Del Ray Halloween Home Decorations Finalists afterwards.

November 28, 2024

Alexandria Turkey Trot

Not so much a socialite event, but a really fun community event. And I always feel better eating a big Thanksgiving dinner after having run 5 miles! You can run or walk the event, and you can have dogs and strollers. There’s a huge turn out for this event and it’s a great way to start your Thanksgiving!

December 6, 2024

Taste of Scotland

Scotch, scotch and – lots of other beverages if you don’t drink scotch! I love this event for the plaid gowns and kilts! It really puts you in the mood for the parade the next day and the whole Christmas season. Plus the Campagna Center is such a good nonprofit providing educational programs from small children to adults in Alexandria!

So there you have it, my insider’s guide to my favorite fall events in Alexandria. Hope to see you there!  Do say hi!!
