Ann Mashburn Trunk Show

Last week, we announced the arrival of Ann Mashburn at The Hive, not just the clothing line, but the actual person - the entrepreneur and designer Ann Mashburn, will be in our store!We featured the Made to Order shirting from her collection, but that is not all we have for the trunk show; they are sending us an extended selection of our fall offerings.The clothing line is very reflective of Ann herself: effortlessly cool. She has raised five daughters while at the same time starting her stores and clothing line with her husband, Sid.So, when I was thinking about who we could get to model these great clothes, two hard-working moms came to mind. These ladies always look put together even with all they have to juggle. I have always been in awe of them both. Pre-COVID, they would travel for work, often giving speeches or presentations, and then the next day be on the lacrosse field without missing a beat.Many of you already know Erin Streeter and Katy Montgomery. I met these ladies when all of our kids attended the same pre-school. Katy and Erin are the closest of friends, and the way they support each other and lift each other up is a wonderful thing to see. They're really more family than friends. They have been so supportive of me and my stores for the longest time, and I know how fortunate I am to have friends and customers like these two women!My favorite item from the Ann Mashburn collection is the Faye pant. It truly is the perfect pant, especially for the current times. I could try and write about it, but I found a post on Ann Mashburn's blog that did a better job than I ever could…

• The Faye Cropped Flare Pants are brilliant. "Minimal, clean, and quietly chic" is what we have in the item copy on the website. A perfect description (which I can say because I didn't write it.) They are all of those things. But the MOST important part of these pants is that they are a stretchy, pull-on style with an elastic waist, and they flatter E V E R Y woman who puts them on. Truly. No lie. Imagine you are in yoga pants (which I do really love for weekend grocery runs), but you are NOT in yoga pants. You are in REAL clothes! Whatever that means to you. The point is that they are polished but next-level comfortable. You could wear them in an office. You could wear the knit version on a transatlantic flight, and still look fresh when you get off the plane. You could wear them to the market. You could even wear the sateen to a black tie event with a smoking jacket or silk blouse on top and heels. I have fallen asleep in them on the couch. We even make them in this fantastic vegan suede that you can throw in the washing machine that could work for any of these activities. Wherever you can imagine, pandemic times or not.
