Cat-eyes, Colors, And Extreme Feminity: Caroline Abram
I have to give credit to my friend Courtney for bringing this line to the store, along with a strong nudge to bring back Hunter Bell. Courtney texted me a photo of some great sunglasses she had purchased on a recent trip called Caroline Abram. I quickly looked up the line and realized the pair she had purchased was just one of many great styles. They were bold, fun, and colorful, and I knew we needed them at the stores.
Caroline started the line in 1998 (I’m not sure why it took me so long to find them) because she noticed the lack of imaginative eyewear. Raised in Dakar, Senegal, she fell in love with the Senegalese people and their culture and trained a group of women in Dakar to manufacture her designs using different materials like resin, silver, wood, and semi-precious stones. Now, she is located in Paris, and she continues to grow her line. Many of her current designs are inspired by the ethos of Miami’s South Beach in the 1960s. The frames are all produced by hand by women. There really is nothing else out there quite like Carline Abrams. So, if you are looking for a little glamour and a little fun, these frames are for you.
