Don’t Miss Sid Mashburn At Yellow Jacket!

I know I can sometimes be confusing. I think in my mind, things make sense, but then on paper, they tend not to translate. I realized this might be the case when describing our upcoming Sid Mashburn event at Yellow Jacket. So yes, there are appointments for custom clothing. But that isn’t all Sid Mashburn, or the event have to offer.

Sid Mashburn is way more than custom clothing. He started his clothing line and store in 2007 after working in men’s fashion for decades. Remember the J. Crew barn jacket we all wore? Well, you can thank him for designing it. He is a legend in men’s fashion. His store in Atlanta is always named one of the best men’s stores in the country by various publications. Since opening his flagship store in Atlanta, he has opened more stores and then, luckily for us, started selling his clothing line to independent retailers like Yellow Jacket.

When it comes to style, there is no comparison. Esquire magazine called his stores the “original temple of good taste.” The clothes are well made, classic but not boring, and in my opinion, a great price for the quality. It is just like women’s clothing; if it is a higher price, it should be high quality. The fabrics are better, and the craftsmanship is superior, so, therefore, it should last longer. His custom dress shirts are made in Italy, following a century of craftsmanship. Sid is not “fast fashion,” as we say in retail.

They know how to make clothes, and it shows, even in their polos. I don’t try to intrude on how my husband dresses, but one thing I try to discourage is the abundance of clothing items with golf courses, sports teams, and corporate logos. They are fine for playing golf and sitting on the sidelines but not for dinner or meetings.

I think a well make polo shirt without a trace of who made it is what every man needs in their wardrobe. It was my gift of choice for high school grads this year.

So to clarify, Sid Mashburn and his team will be in store Thursday, September 15, from 5pm to 8pm and Friday, September 16, from 9am to 3pm. Appropriate beverages will be served at both. You don’t have to have an appointment. Come shop the great selection of Sid Mashburn clothes we have and shop an extended selection they shipped just for the event through Sunday, September 18. I will be there Thursday through Saturday, so come say hi, and if you can make it to meet the Sid team, you won’t be disappointed. They are as charming as their clothes.

To learn more about the man behind the brand, this is a great article. I promise you don’t want to miss this event.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
