Dresses, Dresses, & Dresses

As a boutique owner, I really do try and listen to what customers want and fill our shelves and racks with those items. As I mentioned in an earlier post this spring, it seems that everyone is suddenly looking for a new dress. We can’t keep them in stock, and we have been calling all of our vendors to chase down missing orders and see what else we can get new in the store for spring. I am happy to announce that we finally got our ALC order that we have been chasing. You can’t make this up - a ship in the Suez Canal was blocking the ship carrying our merchandise, and so, we waited and waited. But, it is finally here and well worth the wait.We usually don’t carry too many dresses from Rag & Bone, but there was an orange linen shirt dress and floral midi that we couldn’t pass up. We know it isn’t a dress, but the black floral romper from their spring collection is pretty great too. Then last but of course, not least, we have a few new Ulla Johnson pieces that should arrive over the next few weeks. They’re perfect for summer and for the early fall months, and on all fronts, we can’t seem to get enough Ulla in to keep everyone happy these days.Last but not least, during the spring Veronica Beard trunk show, their navy eyelet Satori dress was a hit. It ended up selling out nationwide, but they recut the dress, and we will have it back in stock in early June. It is the perfect summer event dress. So, if you are looking for a dress, we have lots of options…. finally!

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
