10 Fall Favorites I Couldn’t Resist

It’s almost the first official day of fall, and somehow, we still haven’t shared the new Fall LookBook. We’ve been so busy planning, unpacking boxes, and making room for what’s coming that we haven’t stopped to show you what’s actually here. Some pieces you may have spotted on social media or during a visit to the store, but there’s something special about seeing it all together in one place. And this is just the ready-to-wear—we’ve got an equally amazing lineup of shoes and accessories.

Since July, the deliveries have been non-stop, and with each one, fall just keeps getting better. Personally, it’s my favorite season, and I’ve never been good at waiting to wear the heavier fabrics. I vividly remember starting school in Ohio in full corduroy and a turtleneck—sweating through recess because my argyle sweaters needed to be seen. Some things never change.

This year, I narrowed it down to my top 10 fall favorites (though, if I’m honest, I could have just chosen 10 Tibi pieces). Here’s what I made sure to order for myself, and here’s the Fall LookBook for you to browse, too!:

1. Ulla Johnson Marcella Asymmetrical Long Sleeve Blouse in Cypress

I almost didn’t order this. I get that this is a statement top and not something you would wear to work. You are wearing it to an event or at least a dressy dinner. I mean, I can wear it to work, but retail is different. I ordered this because sometimes I do find myself getting dressed to “go somewhere” and I am not a huge dress person so I thought this would fill a bit of a void in my closet, which it is hard to believe I have one.

2. TWP My Maria in Beetle

This is the opposite of the Ulla top, this is a top I will wear all the time. I can dress it up or down and the fabric is lighter weight so I can start wearing it in September and carry it through to late spring. I love the interesting neckline. I love it so much we ordered a sleeveless version in black leather and a black wool.

3. and 4. Tibi Techi Bonded Wool Wrap Maxi Skirt and Oliver Blazer

I love suits, especially one with a trouser skirt. The collar and longer length of the jacket also just seemed very new to me. I know I will wear this all the time together but also as separates.

5. Tibi Italian Sport Nylon Ribbon Skirt in Black

Once again, not an everyday skirt but a skirt I feel like I could wear out to dinner, a cocktail party or even a wedding. I stated before I am not a dress person so this is something that makes getting dressed up easier for me. Paired with a simple black turtleneck I know it will be what I grab during the holiday season and I don’t know what to wear.

6. COG The Big Smoke Marley Cropped Blouson

I simply had to have this. It is so cool. I do not need it one single bit but I am completely obsessed.

7. Citizens Of Humanity Cassia Leather Skirt

Juliet actually was wearing this last year at the store and I was so annoyed I hadn’t ordered it for the store. I was so happy when they did it again for fall. If you don’t own a leather skirt but have wanted one, this is the skirt you need. A flattering fit and a great price.

8. Apiece Apart Betti in Black

This is part jacket, part sweater. A bit of a shacket, which I am always drawn to. I think this is a great transition piece. It is one of those pieces I think people will be surprised how much they wear.

9. Apiece Apart Hana Pull on Flare Pant In Black

One of Apiece Aparts best sellers is the Rene pant. They are easy and look great on everyone. I really wanted them to work for me but they just always were a little too cropped. I was so happy when we went to the showroom and saw they had a non cropped version. Basically it feels like you are wearing workout pants but you look dressed up.

10. Ann Mashburn Alida V Neck Cardigan in Flannel

We have this cardigan in a linen blend for spring and it was a top seller. Most people that bought it came back and got another color, or two.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
