Style Meets Innovation: Tanya Taylor x Monbouquette Trunk Show

This week we’re hosting what I hope becomes an annual tradition: our joint trunk show with Tanya Taylor and Monbouquette Jewelry. Both lines are new to The Hive, and I have a feeling they’re here to stay.

One reason? I believe female designers often have an instinctive sense of what women want when it comes to clothing and accessories. Both of these brands are female-owned and operated—and it shows.

Tanya Taylor, founded by Tanya herself (a mom of two young boys), creates clothes that truly work for busy lives. Her designs are stylish, versatile, and effortless to wear. Monbouquette Jewelry, founded by a mother-daughter duo, is the most innovative jewelry line I’ve ever seen. Every piece has a clever moving mechanism that transforms it into a second creation. Earrings shift from everyday staples to bold statement pieces with just a click of a magnet or hook. Functional, beautiful, and thoughtful—exactly what busy women need.

To showcase the collections, I invited two of my friends—Nicole and Lauren—to model. Both are Old Town residents, moms of teenagers, and business owners. Their lives are full, fast-paced, and unpredictable, yet they always manage to look polished (I can’t say the same for myself on certain days!). Tanya Taylor feels made for women like them: professional without being stiff, polished but never overdone. Personally, I loved the leather dress and the striped dress, but honestly, every piece we unpacked from our second delivery was a winner.

Jenny and Lily, the brilliant founders of Monbouquette, will be at The Hive Thursday evening through Saturday. I hope you’ll stop by to meet them and explore both collections. There truly is something for everyone—and all pieces will be 20% off for the weekend.

This is more than a trunk show—it’s a celebration of women designing for women.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
