10 Pre-Fall Pieces Worth Shopping Now
It is June and it is time for pre-fall to start arriving. Some of it has already hit our sales floor. As a buyer, this is the most difficult delivery for me to select. I attend this market in December and it is called summer/pre-fall. This is where the trouble occurs. Half the items are for warm weather and the other half are for colder temps. So what do you pick?
It starts arriving in May and lasts through July. The problem with the DMV is that most people are gone for the majority of the summer, or at least some large portion. It is a slow time for us, so I have to be really picky. I also have to figure out: are clients coming in for a summer dress or are they ready to move on?
I figured out it is a bit of both. I make sure to have buy-now-wear-now pieces that transition to when it is so hot in September and October and you need something that doesn’t scream summer.
I am so excited for all these deliveries and I thought I would share my top 10 picks.
Picks 1 & 2: Merce Slinky Slim Button Up and Maxi in Cypress
Have you ever watched Great Expectations with Gwyneth Paltrow? If you did, then this outfit makes sense. Apiece Apart wasn’t the only one to do a set like this, but I think they did it best. This green color is for sure the color of the season.
Picks 3 & 4: Fara Sport Cargo in Olive and Volos Cinched Moto Pant in Cobblestone
I love a cargo pant. Apiece Apart and Saint Art did my favorites and they are a great lightweight color, but the color takes you into fall.
Pick 5: Kira Sculpted Dress in Chocolate
This dress is such a flattering cut and a great price. I know chocolate brown isn’t a typical color for summer, but fall colors were the trend for summer.
Picks 6 & 7: The Everything Short in Chocolate and Creased Stretch Crepe Skort in White
I know not everyone loves shorts, but I do. I already own the Everything Short in blue and they are great. They have a little bit of sheen to them, so they are a bit dressier. The Tibi skort is one of my other favorites for summer. I know people don’t wear white after Labor Day, but I don’t adhere to that rule.
Pick 8: Lenora Dress in Dark Khaki
I love a throw-and-go dress. I have a Smythe dress that is 10 years old that reminds me of this Tanya Taylor dress. I still won’t get rid of it, but I am adding this to my closet.
Pick 9: Fiona Cami Dress in Agate
I think this is one of the most gorgeous dresses I have ever seen. A great thick cotton and the most gorgeous colors. I am not a huge floral person, so I was thrilled to see a summer dress that was more my speed.
Pick 10: Saanvi Black Mesh Mule
We got two great slides from Freda; the other is a fun green color. I don’t love black shoes in summer, they can read a bit heavy to me. But this mesh option really lightens up a look.
